In order to graduate, students complete a minimum of 32 credits (~12 courses), which can generally be completed in the first two to three semesters, leaving the final semester for focused thesis research and writing.
VISITS
Each spring semester first-year students visit a number of government organizations, research institutions, enterprises, and rural sites in order to gain an a solid and applied understanding of contemporary China.
THESIS
In their second year students conduct independent research and defend a thesis before a faculty committee. Students work closely with their supervisors to define a topic and research process.
